Olympus E-PM1 PEN Mini leaks out

OlympusE-PM1inline

A photo of the Olympus PEN mini E-PM1 has been leaked to 43 Rumors. The new Micro Four Thirds format camera compares in size with the Olympus XZ-1, being slightly larger in width and comparable height and depth. Olympus has promised the new PEN camera will feature an ultrafast autofocus that the company says is faster than the Panasonic GH2 AF and many DSLR cameras on the market today.

The E-PM1 PEN will also have a touchscreen and a new imaging engine and sensor. Improved circuitry should deliver reduced power consumption and increased battery life.

The Olympus E-PM1 PEN will have its official unveiling on June 30.

Android 2.3 test for HTC Thunderbolt leaks out

An early indication that an official Android 2.3 build for the HTC Thunderbolt is indeed coming soon comes in the form of a test build of the software now available for download. Hosted by 911 Sniper, the test build is a big hint that HTC is working hard to meet its June 30 deadline for the launch of the official OS for this smartphone. Not much else is known about the test OS at this point, including how difficult it is to install on Thunderbolt handsets.

With the upcoming official update, the Thunderbolt will get better support for the front-facing camera, better power management, built-in voice over IP calling, and a better media framework that includes AAC encoding and overall WebM support, among other improvements.

Samsung Exhibit 4G for T-Mobile leaks with 1.4GHz chip

type='html'>

samsungexhibit4g A leak Friday night confirmed that T-Mobile is lining up a more direct replacement for the Samsung Vibrant. The Exhibit 4G would be a close relative of the Galaxy S Plus and use its 1.4GHz processor, five-megapixel camera, and Android 2.3, but with some conspicuous upgrades and downgrades. TmoNews saw that it would have a slightly smaller 3.7-inch (though still 480x800) screen, but it would pack a front VGA resolution camera and its namesake HSPA+ data, though whether it would be 14.4Mbps or 21Mbps couldn't be identified.

The control scheme would be its most unusual aspect; rather than have the four touch buttons of the Vibrant or most US Galaxy S phones, it would use a consciously iPhone-like home button and reserve the rest for up top. Performance would be strictly middling at somewhere between the Galaxy S and the Motorola Droid X.

No release details exist for the Exhibit 4G. However, its appearance in working form with a final name could have it coming soon. The earliest opportunity is a known Samsung event on May 24.
