Toshiba Launches Satellite P745 / P755 / P775 Entertainment Laptop Line

The new P models include the 14-inch P745, 15.6-inch P755 and its 3D-capable version P755 3D, as well as the P775 17.3-incher.

The notebooks are powered by the Intel Core i3, i5, and i7, or an AMD A6 Fusion processor. Some configurations include the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M dedicated GPUs and Optimus switchable graphics, Blu-ray drives, Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology, and 4G WiMAX mobile broadband modules.

These higher-end mobile machines feature up to 750GB of storage, isle-style keyboards, Harman/Kardon stereo speakers with Dolby sound, USB 3.0, and HDMI.

The Satellite P755 3D additionally sports a 15.6-inch 120Hz 3D screen, powered by Nvidia 3D Vision technology. It ships with a pair of active shutter glasses.

Design of the new laptops includes platinum-colored Fusion X2 finish.

The basic Satellite P745 configuration will be priced at $700, while the P755 and P755 3D will start at $630 and $1,200, respectively. Toshiba's Satellite P775 will also have a base price of $629.99. They are expected to start shipping on June 21.

LG launches Cinema 3D TV line

LG today launched its next generation Cinema 3D TV range at Ferrari World, Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi.


"LG is opening a new chapter in the development of world TV by bringing CINEMA 3D TV to consumers in the region. It represents the absolute pinnacle of 3D TV entertainment using the very best of recent innovative technology from LG, The end result is a superior product that is sure to place us at the very forefront of TV markets the world over," said K.W. Kim, President, LG Electronics, Middle East & Africa Region.

Hollywood's Megan Fox also attended the launch event and added, "I've been totally impressed by LG's CINEMA 3D TVs. The picture is awesome and the 3D is incredible; I can't wait to get one".


The next-generation 3D TV's use LG's patented Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology which LG claims enhances the viewing experience. Whilst using the lightweight (16gm) 3D glasses, FPR is said to provide a crisper and sharper rendered 3D image, and one that is comfortable and viewable for extended periods.


FPR technology also allows for wider viewing positions thus making it suitable for viewing by large groups. Furthermore, LG's Light Boost technology ensures that 3D pictures appear brighter and clearer to the viewer. LG says the TVs also ship with advanced 2D to 3D converters, allowing you to view existing 2D content in 3D.


"LG's goal of ensuring added comfort with a crystal-clear and smooth 3D image is certified ‘Flicker-Free' by TÜV and Intertek, two world-renowned technology testing agencies," explained Kim. "By addressing the issue of flickering and cross-talk, LG has ensured that dizziness or even nausea that could affect people watching 3D TV is no longer an issue."


All LG Cinema 3D TVs are also equipped with Smart TV functions that allows users access to the Internet and services such as YouTube. Kim had this to say about Smart TV functionality, "What we have here is a state-of-the-art product that marries high quality performance with innovation and the very latest in technological advancement. Sony launches new Walkman B160 series

Sony has launched its Walkman B160 Series MP3 players, which weigh 28g and are less than 10cm long. The Walkman B160 Series features a two-tone finish in a choice of vivid colours.

According to Sony, the Walkman B160 Series delivers big sounds and deep bass notes despite its compact size. If users push the bass button on the MP3 player, it is designed to release more deep notes and also starts a colour matching power illuminator, which pulses in time with the music.


The device is designed to provide 90 minutes of power with just a three minute charge, and when fully charged has approximately 18 hours of play time.


The device can be connected directly to a PC via the player's built-in USB connector and users can drag and drop files or transfer them to the device via Windows Media Player 11/12.


ZAPPIN song search technology is designed to allow users to browse through their music archives via the ZAPPIN button, which activates a short snatch of each track.


The MP3 player also now features a detachable belt clip to allow for easier portability. A new feature, the detachable clip, attaches Walkman to a belt, bag strap or outside the pocket of the shirt or jeans.


The new Walkman NWZ-B160 range of MP3 players is now available in the UAE at all Jumbo Electronics showrooms.

Verizon adds LG Revolution to May 26 launches

LG-Revolution As we suspected, Verizon Wireless announced today that the LG Revolution will be available starting May 26 for $249.99 with a two-year contract.


The Revolution is the carrier's third 4G smartphone (following the HTC Thunderbolt and Samsung Droid Charge) and offers a 4.3-inch WVGA touch screen, a 5-megapixel camera and front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, and mobile hot-spot capabilities. The handset will ship running Android 2.2 but note that it will use Bing search and maps.


Other features include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Bluetooth 3.0, Swype, HDMI output, and a preinstalled 16GB microSD card.


The LG Revolution will have some company tomorrow, as Verizon is also launching the Motorola Droid X2 and Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in stores on Thursday. Decisions, decisions.
