The 7-inch HTC Flyer Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) tablet is now on sale in Europe. The device is shipping in two models, one a 16GB Wi-Fi only and a 32GB Wi-Fi plus 3G version. The tablet is shipping with the Magic Pen, unlike Best Buy in the US, which will be selling the stylus as an $80 extra.

Although limited by running Android 2.3, when many other newly shipping tablets are equipped with Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), the tablet offers the ability work with a stylus as well as through capacitive touch input. Another potential drawback is that the tablet is shipping with a single-core Snapdragon processor, but it is clocked at a fast 1.5GHz.

It also ulitizes HTC’s customized Sense 3.0 UI, while 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP provide connectivity. The included onboard memory is expandable through a microSD slot. The front camera is 1.3-megapixels, while the rear is 5.0-megapixels. Codec support includes AAC, AMR, OGG, M4A, MP3, WMA, WAV, 3GP, 3G2, MP4, WMV, AVI and XVID.

The 16GB version of the HTC Flyer will soon be shipping in the States for $499.

The HTC Flyer Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) tablet has had its companion Digital Pen priced at Best Buy, for $80. Sold separately, the device joins a leather pouch ($35) specially designed to accommodate both the Flyer and the pen. Both the Digital Pen and the leather pouch can also be purchased in a bundle for $109. All the accessories are listed as shipping in 1-2 weeks.

The Digital Pen is supported by purpose designed apps that allow users to hand-draw notes and images. HTC's software can also detect the difference between a deliberate touch, and a user resting their palm on the screen to use the pen interface.

The HTC Flyer itself is also on pre-order at Best Buy for $499. It centers on a 7-inch capacitive 1024x600 touchscreen and is powered by a single-core, second generation 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also incorporates HTC’s customized Sense 3.0 UI. 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP provide connectivity.

Other specs include 16GB of onboard memory expandable through a microSD slot. The front-facing camera is 1.3-megapixels, while the rear is 5.0-megapixels. Codec support includes AAC, AMR, OGG, M4A, MP3, WMA, WAV, 3GP, 3G2, MP4, WMV, AVI and XVID.

Like its accessories, the Flyer should be shipping in 1-2 weeks.
